A few of my favorite things...in Raleigh.

Hello to my FYE friends!

In my life, there is a NEVER a dull moment. I often tell people I could star in my own reality show! Between my family, friends, neighbors, and the ladies of the Class of 2012, I have MANY characters in my life. They keep me on my toes and help to make my life interesting.... never dull :)

All of you are new to Meredith, but many of you are new to Raleigh as well. Raleigh is a wonderful city with LOTS to do! Whatever you are into, there is a little something for everybody.

To me, Meredith is one of the most beautiful places on Earth. It's sometimes hard to leave! Having said that, I would encourage each of you take time to go out and explore this exciting city. To help get you started, I wanted to share a few of my "favorites" in Raleigh....

Food
Pizza-  Mellow Mushroom on Glenwood Ave/ Peace St.. (They have great outdoor seating!)
Gumby's.....it's cheap and they deliver.
Mexican - El Rodeo - They are ALL OVER Raleigh - I think the closest one is Hillsborough Street.
Chinese - Oh there are too many to name!
Some of my other favorite places to eat... The Rockford, Armadillo Grill, Vivace, Sitti, Raleigh Times, Gravy, Bella Monica, Roly Poly, Porters, Sushi Blues, Sushi-Thai, 518 West, Flying Biscuit,Village Deli, Village Draft House....I could go on for days......

Shopping
Cameron Village - so many neat places to eat and shop! Close to Campus!
North Hills - Again, great shopping and lots of great reasturants. There is also a nice movie theatre there.
Crabtree Mall
Southpoint Mall in Durham ( Nordstrom......need I say more?!)
Triangle Town Center
Airport Outlet Mall
Raleigh also has some AMAZING Consignment stores....Passage, Revolver....

Movies
Blue Ridge 14 - All movies are $1.50!
Cary Crossroads
Raleigh Grande
Rialto

Sweet Treats
Cook Out Milkshakes CANNOT be beat. (Strawberry is my favorite!)
Howling Cow Ice Cream  Only on NCSU Campus ( NC State Student Center and Library)
The Cupcake Shoppe (Glenwood Avenue)

Coffee
Royal Bean - you can walk there! (Across the Street @ The Royal)
Caribou Coffee (Edwards Mill Road)
Starbucks - they are of course all over - the closest one is on Lake Boone Trail

Weekend Activities
North Carolina Museum of Art
Flea Market ( State Fair Grounds)
Koka Booth Ampitheatre

Stay away from NCSU Fraternity Court.....if you absolutely MUST go - don't go alone!

Whether you need to find a hair stylist, a bookstore, a great place for a date, or a place to plan a surprise birthday party for your suite mate, I promise you, Raleigh has it all! Did I leave something out? Just ask!

GO GREEN!: Visit the DAISY TRADE store - 1st floor of Poteat. Leave an item, take an item.  Everything is free...someone's trash may be your treasure!  (Great place for school supplies, etc.)
